“Are You Ready to be a Project Leader?” identifies the skills that CEOs and organizations are seeking in project managers. During this presentation, you will learn how these skills—problem solving, adaptability, leadership, creativity and innovation, and emotional intelligence align to the PMI Talent Triangle®.  PMI research shows that as the job market becomes more competitive, achieving the skills identified by the Talent Triangle increases your value and decreases your risk of being left behind. The presenter will provide case studies and personal experiences, as well as PMI resources that can help you advance your career.

About the Speaker:

Teresa (Terri) Knudson, MBA, PMP, PgMP, PfMP, is director of the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) at Mayo Clinic, the largest integrated nonprofit medical center in the world. She established the EPMO in 2008, providing methodologies and standards, education, resources, consulting, systems and reporting.  Ms. Knudson leads the development of enterprise-wide advancements in project, program, and portfolio management (PPM).

Ms. Knudson has served Mayo Clinic for over 30 years in various business areas, including strategic planning, finance, information technology, audit, business management, and operations administration.  During these assignments she led some of the largest initiatives at Mayo Clinic, many earning Excellence in Teamwork Awards.  Prior to joining Mayo Clinic, Ms. Knudson held positions at Deloitte and Cenex.

Ms. Knudson has been an active member of the PMI® Global Executive Council since 2011, has a quarterly column in PM Network® magazine, served on a global congress keynote panel, is a regular presenter at the PMO SymposiumSM, has written for multiple magazines and books, teaches and speaks nationally and internationally, and consults with organizations worldwide to share knowledge to enhance PPM maturity and value.

Ms. Knudson holds an MBA and Bachelor’s Degrees in accounting and computer science.  Since 2009, she has obtained her Project Management Professional (PMP)®, Program Management Professional (PgMP)®, and Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP)®.  Ms. Knudson is also a certified public accountant (currently inactive), is certified in change management, and has bronze and silver quality awards.

Ms. Knudson has led community volunteer efforts with the United Way and created the Ways of Caring initiative, sponsoring various events. She grew up in a military family, at times living abroad, and has a deep appreciation for the armed services.  She enjoys traveling, especially internationally, while exploring new places and meeting people from all countries and cultures.
